KIM BOYER, Ph.D., is Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The Ohio State University, where he directs the Signal Analysis and Machine Perception Laboratory. He received his Ph.D. from Purdue University in 1986. He is a Fellow of the IEEE, a Fellow of the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR), and a former IEEE Computer Society Distinguished Speaker. Dr. Boyer's research addresses all aspects of computer vision and medical image analysis; he has published over 100 papers and five books. He holds or has held positions of Scientific Secretary, Commission III (Theory and Algorithms), International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing; Associate Editor, IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, Computer Vision and Image Understanding, and Machine Vision and Applications; member, IAPR Governing Board; and Chair, IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence.
