KATHERINE SELEY-RADTKE, Ph.D is Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Dr. Seley-Radtke earned a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Auburn University, Her research involves drug discovery and development. Current research projects are focused in two areas: (i) the design and synthesis of nucleoside inhibitors of enzymes critical for replication, with a chemotherapeutic emphasis in the areas of anticancer, antiviral, and antiparasitic targets, and (ii) the use of modified nucleosides and heterocycles to explore structure and function in DNA and other biological systems. In addition to her research efforts, for the past five years Dr. Seley-Radtke has been involved with the Department of Defense and the Defense Threat Reduction Agency's collaborative effort with Russia towards the nonproliferation of biological weapons.
