Compass Committee Report

This illustration, which shows the U.S.S. Passaic's deck plan and positions of magnetic stations, accompanied the Compass Committee's report on magnetic deviation in iron ships.

The Compass Committee conducted a magnetic survey of the Passaic at the Brooklyn Navy Yard in late June, 1863.
