Upstairs Gallery
2101 Constitution Avenue NW
Monday – Friday, 9 – 5

Cyclamen IV

Lisianthius Buds

Amy Lamb’s masterful large-scale photographs of flowers are a lyrical convergence of science and aesthetics. Their detailed revelation of botanical color and structure looks back not only to the artist’s own background as a biologist, but also to an enduring tradition of botanical art.

Leucadendron

Lamb’s innovation lies in the application fo state of the art photographic techniques to this tradition. Her expertise with photographic lighting allows her to render the flora precisely, emphasizing their architecture and texture.

Begonia Leaves

The achievement in the studio is beautifully rendered in large-scale prints, in which archival inks are sprayed on watercolor paper to enhance the sensual beauty of these images
