This exhibition, organized by the Department of Architecture of The Art Institute of Chicago, explores state-of-the-art architecture of new train stations in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. Since the world’s first railway station opened in the 19th century, stations have maintained a special place as symbols of prosperity, hope, possibility, departure, and reunion.
Today, train stations play multiple roles as generators of urban renewal, new architectural icons, and connecting points for different means of transportation. Plans, drawings, computer renderings, and photographs present the newest and most interesting examples from around the world.
