James M. Guyette joined Rolls-Royce North America on October 1, 1997, as President and Chief Executive Officer, following a long and successful career with United Airlines where his last position was Executive Vice President, Marketing and Planning. A review of his career appointments and accomplishments while at United reveals one of the most impressive and diverse backgrounds in the United States Airline industry.

Jim is responsible for leading the company that oversees all Rolls-Royce companies and business units in North America. RRNA has major facilities in the USA and Canada and employs some 6,700 people in 50 locations. Total sales of indigenous products and services in 1998 were US$1.8 billion. Customers include government departments, both civil and military, commercial airlines, corporate operators, public utilities, independent power producers, pipeline operators and offshore oil producers.

RRNA is a wholly owned subsidiary of Rolls-Royce plc, one of the world’s leading power systems companies, operating in aerospace, industrial and marine power markets. It produces one of the broadest ranges of aero engines in the world with one of the largest fleets of aero engines in service, powering aircraft and helicopters for both commercial and military applications. It also provides industrial equipment for power generation, oil and gas and marine propulsion. Jim is a member of the main board of UK-based Rolls Royce plc and has a seat on the board of Rolls Royce Allison in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Born and educated in Fresno, California, Guyette obtained his BS degree in Business Administration from Saint Mary’s College, Moraga, California, where today he sits on the Board of Regents of the College and on the Board of Visitors for the Business School. He is also a member of the Business Advisory Council of Montana State University, Bozeman, Montana. Additionally Jim serves on the National Research Council Aeronautics and Space Engineering Board and he is a director of the Private Bank and Trust Co. of Chicago, Illinois.
