Beckman Center: Equipment

Audio-visual equipment is available at the Beckman Center, including: LCD projectors, computers, DVD/VCR players, digital audio and video recording, microphones, conference phones, video teleconference equipment, flipcharts, whiteboards, and laser pointers, etc. Video feeds may be ordered for overflow use. Both the Auditorium and Lecture Room are equipped for simultaneous translation, and hearing-impaired headsets.

Videoconferencing makes possible the interactive participation of persons from a variety of remote Academies locations (e.g., NAS, Keck, Terrell, Landover, VA Data Center, and Woods Hole.) Connections can be made site-to-site or among multiple sites. In addition, nearly any other "standards" based, dial-in videoconferencing system in the world can be reached from the Beckman Center. (NOTE: Non-Academies and multi-site video conferences may require significant advance notice.) Computers with laser printers are available to meeting participants. Public PCs and Macs are located in the first and second floor Service Centers and Library. Additional computers can be reserved for individual use in assigned conference rooms and offices. To accommodate the growing number of Internet and laptops users, the Center also offers high-speed wireless internet access in every room.

Copy machines with a wide variety of functions are located in the copy centers on the first and second floors. Access codes are assigned to user groups for charge calculations.
