U.S. National Committee for CODATA and Other Institutional Aspects
The U.S. National Committee (USNC) for CODATA (the Committee on Data for Science and Technology) is currently the principal organizational entity within the ISTIP Program.
Learn more about the international Committee on Data for Science and Technology (CODATA).
The USNC/CODATA is a standing committee and an interdisciplinary committee of the International Council for Science (ICSU)), organized under the NRC, with a mandate to work on improving the quality, reliability, management, and accessibility of data relevant to all fields of science and technology.
The USNC/CODATA coordinates the activities of the ISTIP Office with other NRC committees and external groups. Groups with the greatest affiliated subject-matter interest within the NRC include the Computer Science and Telecommunications Board, the Committee on Geophysical and Environmental Data, the Committee on National Statistics, and other U.S. National Committees to ICSU (that are organized under BISO). Other units within the NRC with specific subject-matter expertise, as well as organizations outside the institution, especially ICSU, are consulted and involved in joint activities, as necessary.
