Board on Manufacturing and Engineering Design - Note From The Chair
Exciting Milestones
Since our last newsletter, a major report, “Surviving Supply Chain Integration: Strategies for Small Manufacturers,” was published and several more reports are in progress. James Lardner (retired), Deere & Company, chaired the committee that produced this report. The supply chain integration study is especially important and timely because of the rapidly changing business environment, which has already drastically altered the nature of supply chains for manufacturing enterprises. Further changes are a certainty as the full effects of e-commerce are realized, and additional studies in this area are likely, either initiated by BMAED or in conjunction with other boards, such as the National Materials Advisory Board (NMAB).
