Charles A. Fishkin

Fidelity Investments

Charles Fishkin is Vice President of Firmwide Risk at Fidelity Investments. He is based in the company’s headquarters in Boston, and is engaged in helping Fidelity manage risks across its diverse organization, including its mutual fund, brokerage and employee benefits units. A prominent area of his focus at Fidelity involves best practices for credit, market and operational risk. He joined Fidelity in 2002. Previously, he spent twenty years in New York City, where he held a range of positions in capital markets and risk management. He is now at work on a book about risk management entitled The Shape of Risk: A New Look at Risk Management, which is expected to be published in 2004 by Palgrave Macmillan. He has written extensively about risk management in industry journals. His recent articles discuss visualization of risk, operational risk and OTC derivatives. He is a frequent speaker on risk management at industry forums around the world. Charles serves on the Board of Directors of the International Association of Financial Engineers (IAFE). He helped found the IAFE’s Operational Risk Committee and now serves as its co-chair. He is a graduate of The University of Chicago. He can be reached at charles.fishkin@fmr.com.
