Daniel Galik is responsible for the overall management of the newly established IRS Mission Assurance organization. Dan comes to the IRS from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) where he headed the agency's information technology security program and led major change efforts to bring the NRC into compliance with the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA). Before this he had a distinguished military career with the Navy Department. After graduation from the Naval Academy and completing an assignment on a Navy destroyer, he was accepted into the Navy's Engineering Duty Officer community, responsible for engineering and acquisition program management for the Navy's major programs. In his later career, he served in increasingly responsible positions with a focus on Navy Information Systems Security. He completed his active duty career as the Deputy Director for Strategic Plans, Policy and Programming at the Defense Information Systems Agency.
