John P. Kindinger is the Team Leader for Programmatic Risk Analysis in the Decision Applications Division of the Los Alamos National Laboratory. Prior to joining LANL, Mr. Kindinger was Manager of Risk Assessment Technology at ARES Corporation for 2 years and a senior consultant with PLG, Inc. in Newport Beach, CA, for 11 years. Before that, he was employed for 13 years as a staff engineer for the Consumers Power Company in Jackson, Michigan. Mr. Kindinger has extensive experience in risk assessment and safety analysis for the nuclear (commercial and defense), electric power, chemical and petroleum industries. He holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University and a MS in the Management of Technology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School of Management. Recent papers and presentations authored by Mr. Kindinger include Set the Bar Higher for Project Risk Analysis presented at the PMI 2002 Southern California Risk Management Symposium, A Systems Approach to Project Risk Management presented at the Sixth International Conference on Probabilistic Safety Assessment and Management, Development of Schedule Contingency Based on Probabilistic Risk Results, co-authored with FK Houghton and presented at the 2001 PMI Annual Symposium, Risk Factor Analysis – A New Qualitative Risk Management Tool, presented at the 2000 PMI Annual Symposium and Use of Project Risk Analysis Results for Project Budgeting and Contingency Analysis, presented at the 1999 PMI Annual Symposium.
