Exploring the Intersection of Science Education and the Development of 21st Century Skills: A Workshop
The Board on Science Education held a workshop on February 5-6, 2009 to look at science education as a context for development of five 21st century skills: adaptability, complex communication, non-routine problem-solving, self-development/self-management, and systems thinking. The workshop explored the potential of science education as a context in which students can learn and practice these skills.
The workshop is supported by the National Institutes of Health Office of Science Education and the following members of the Partnership for 21st Century Skills: The National Education Association; SAP (no longer a member of the Partnership); the Pearson Company; Intel Corporation, Apple, Inc., and the Ford Motor Company Fund.
