Climate Change Education in Elementary School through the First Two Years of College:
A Workshop

August 31, 2011 – September 1, 2011

The National Research Council’s Board on Science Education presents a workshop that brings together scholars and practitioners from a wide range of disciplines and expertise to discuss the teaching and learning of climate change and climate science in formal education settings, from kindergarten to the first two years of college (K-14).  Based on the evidence from research and practice, the workshop will explore how climate change is currently taught in school; what research indicates how best to teach climate change in K-14 settings; what factors impede teaching climate change in schools; and the connection between climate change education in K-12 and higher education. The workshop will be designed to provide ample opportunity for discussion and exchange.
