Angela Cristini: Biographical Sketch

Angela Cristini is Executive Director of Special Programs at Ramapo College University in New Jersey. She directs the Meadowlands Environment Center (MEC) which is operated through a 1.6 million dollar/year contract with the New Jersey Meadowlands Commission. Since 2003, Dr. Crisitini has directed all MEC activities in which over 20,000 children, educators, families, adults, and senior citizens per year participate in informal science programming. Dr. Cristini also designed and directs the Master of Science in Educational Technology Program (MSET), a program directed at the needs and concerns of the professional educational community. Prior to joining Ramapo College, Dr. Cristini was President of the American Littoral Society (ALS), a national, not-for-profit, membership organization, dedicated to the environmental well-being of coastal habitats. She was Assistant Director of Environmental Research, Division of Science and Research of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection where she was responsible for setting the research agenda for environmental issues in New Jersey. Dr. Cristini was a recipient of competitive grant funding exceeding $3.6 million dollars from the National Science Foundation and New Jersey State Department of Education for informal science, teacher enhancement, and curriculum development projects in science and technology. Her research interests include comparative physiology and ecology of invertebrates; effects of pollutants on marine organisms; and endocrinology and mechanisms of ionic regulation of crustaceans.
