Helen Quinn: Biographical Sketch
Helen Quinn is professor of physics at Stanford University where she also serves as Education and Public Outreach Manager at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center of Stanford University. Dr. Quinn is a theoretical physicist who was inducted into the National Academy of Sciences in 2003. She is also chair of BOSE’s NASA Pre-College Education Program Evaluation project. In addition to her scholarship in physics, she is also interested in the continuing education of science teachers. She was an active contributor to the California State Science Curriculum Reforms and currently serves as the president of the non-profit Contemporary Physics Education Project. Previously, Dr. Quinn served as a member on the National Research Council (NRC)'s Committee on Physics of the Universe. Currently, Dr. Quinn is a member of the study committee for Science Learning, K-8. She is also a member of the American Physical Society. She has been widely published and holds numerous honors. Dr. Quinn is considered by many to be one of an elite group of women who have made original and important contributions to physics. She received her Ph.D. in physics from Stanford University in 1967.
