Warren W. Hein is currently Associate Executive Officer at the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT) where he is co-principal investigator on several NSF-funded grants including a NSDL grant “Communities for Physics and Astronomy Digital Resources for Education (ComPADRE),” “Rural Physics Teaching Resource Agents (PTRA),” and “Strategic Programs for Innovations in Undergraduate Physics at Two-Year Colleges (SPIN-UP/TYC).” Hein also serves on the leadership team for the “Physics Teacher Education Coalition (PhysTEC),” a joint project of the AAPT, American Institute of Physics (AIP) and the American Physical Society (APS). PhysTEC is funded by grants from NSF and FIPSE. Prior to joining AAPT in 1997, Hein taught physics and served as department head at South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota. He received his B.S. in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 1966 and the Ph.D. in Nuclear Physics from Iowa State University in 1970.
