Committee on Appropriate Uses of Educational Tests
This study will explore a range of alternative mechanisms to promote appropriate test use and prevent discriminatory impacts resulting from high-stakes testing. The study will include the following tasks and activities:
- review and analysis of existing mechanisms to ensure appropriate test use;
- review of a sample of existing programs at the state and local level designed to assure appropriate test use;
- extensive consultation with various stakeholder groups to gain insight into the range of perceived and real risks associated with new and existing testing programs; and
- exploration of the feasibility of potential safeguards for appropriate test use.
