David Wakelyn is a Senior Policy Analyst at the National Governors Association (NGA) Center for Best Practices, where he helps to lead work on high school reform and efforts to expand access to Advanced Placement courses in six states. Previously, he worked for America’s Choice School Design and studied efforts to turn around low-performing schools in Chicago and Kentucky. Dr. Wakelyn taught algebra in south central Los Angeles and is presently a trustee of Galapagos Charter School. Dr. Wakelyn has a B.A. in American history from Vanderbilt University and a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
