Committee on Equivalency and Linkage of Educational Tests

The purpose of the equivalency and linking study is to evaluate the feasibility of developing an equivalency scale to compare the results from existing state and/or commercial tests of mathematics and reading and link them to each other and to the National Assessment of Educational Progress.

Among the issues that the study will address are the following:

  • linking studies, focusing on methodological issues;
  • existing state and commercial tests focusing on content, use, and psychometric properties;
  • existing efforts to link state assessments to NAEP; and
  • conditions necessary to facilitate linking and equating across multiple state and/or commercial test programs.
