Committee on Participation of English Language Learners and Students with Disabilities in NAEP and other Large-Scale Assessments
The Committee on the Participation of English-Language Learners and Students with Disabilities in National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) and Other Large-Scale Assessments is an eight-person study committee with expertise in the areas of special education, bilingual education, educational measurement and research, and large-scale assessment/policy. The Committee was formed by the NRC/BOTA to address the important issues of participation and testing accommodations in the NAEP and other large-scale assessments.
Building on the previous work of BOTA, the overall objectives of the project are to synthesize recent research about the effects of accommodations on test scores and the validity of the interpretations from them, to identify what is known about how current inclusion and accommodation decisions are made in large scale assessments, and to offer conclusions and/or recommendations about the implications of these data for NAEP inclusion and accommodation policies and analyses.
The committee intends to hold three meetings and is expected to produce a final report by Spring of 2004.
