CMMP 2010 Facilities Workshop
Under the auspices of the National Research Council of the National Academies, a comprehensive assessment of the current status and future prospects of the field of Condensed Matter and Materials Physics (CMMP 2010) has commenced. For this study, the committee has been charged to “identify, discuss, and suggest priorities for construction, purchase, and operation of tools and facilities ranging from instrumentation for the individual investigator to the national user facilities.” In order to address this charge, the committee is holding a 1.5-day workshop at the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Center of the National Academies in Irvine, CA, on January 28-29, 2007, to convene facility users and managers to discuss future facility needs for CMMP and provide input to the committee on this important topic.
This workshop is free of charge. All members of the CMMP community are encouraged to attend to engage in discussion on future facility needs for CMMP research and to provide input to the committee to address its charge. An open letter of invitation to the community is posted here.
