Research Evidence Related to Future Skill Demands
With support from the National Institutes of Health Office of Science Education and the Russell Sage Foundation, the Center for Education will convene a public workshop on future skill demands. The workshop will explore research on future skill demands, identify areas of agreement and tension in the research, and consider the implications for education and training. Experts will present background papers on future skill demands in two large and rapidly-growing groups of jobs--professional "knowledge workers" and low-wage service workers. Other topics to be addressed include globalization of work, methods to measure the impacts of computerization on work, and education and training strategies to meet future skill demands.
