Catherine Snow, Ph.D. is the Henry Lee Shattuck Professor of Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She worked for several years in the linguistics department of the University of Amsterdam and is an expert on language and literacy in children and the relationship between language acquisition skill and literacy outcomes. Dr. Snow chaired the National Research Council Committee that authored “Preventing Reading Difficulties in Young Children” (1998) and the study group that authored “Reading for Understanding: Toward an R&D Program in Reading Comprehension” (2002). She is past president of the American Educational Research Association. She has co-authored books on language development and literacy development and is widely published on the same topics in edited volumes and refereed journals. She earned her Ph.D. in psychology from McGill University.
