Lauress Wise is a principal scientist at the Human Resources Research Organization (HumRRO), where he was president from 1994-2007. His research interests focus on issues related to testing and test use policy. He has served on the National Academy of Education's Panel for the Evaluation of the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) Trial State Assessment. Dr. Wise served as chair of the NRC’s Board on Testing and Assessment and has served on many NRC committees. He chaired the Committee on Research in Education and co-chaired the Committee to Evaluate the Voluntary National Tests. He was a member of several other committees including the Committee on Reporting Results of Accommodated Test Takers and the Committee on the Evaluation of NAEP. He has a Ph.D. in mathematical psychology from the University of California, Berkeley.
