Future of the Nuclear Security Environment in 2015
A NAS-RAS
committee is undertaking a joint project aimed at identifying U.S. and Russian views on the international nuclear security environment in 2015, what challenges may arise from that environment, and what options the U.S. and Russia have in partnering to address those challenges.

Internationalization of the Nuclear Fuel Cycle
The NAS and the RAS are undertaking a joint study to assess the technical, economic, legal/regulatory, and non-proliferation criteria necessary for the implementation of an international civilian nuclear fuel cycle. The study will address both institutional and technical questions concerning schemes for international fuel cycles.

Chinese - English English - Chinese Glossary of Nuclear Security Terms
CISAC is working with its Chinese counterpart, the Chinese Scientists Group for Arms Control at the Institute for Applied Physics and Computational Mathematics in Beijing to produce a glossary of nuclear security terms in English and Chinese.

Science and Technology to Counter Terrorism: The Proceedings of an Indo-U.S. Workshop
This report presents the papers and summarizes the discussions of a workshop between Indian and U.S. experts to examine the terrorist threat faced in both countries and elsewhere in the world, and explore opportunities for the U.S. and India to work together in the future.

The National Academy of Sciences (NAS) formed the Committee on International Security and Arms Control (CISAC) in 1980 as a permanent committee to bring the resources of the Academy to bear on critical problems of international security and arms control. CISAC, in the Policy and Global Affairs Division, draws from the nation’s finest scientific, technical, engineering and medical talent to advise the government, contribute to the work of non-governmental organizations, and inform the public about scientific and technical issues related to international security and arms control.
