Housing Discrimination Workshop

The Committee on National Statistics (CNSTAT) and the CBASSE Division of Social and Economic Studies conducted a workshop to review and comment upon the design and analysis plans of HUD's national study of racial and ethnic discrimination in housing rental, sales, and lending markets. Information gathered at the workshop will provide national estimates of discrimination against Blacks, Hispanics, Native Americans, and Asians in housing rental and sales markets, and will be the basis for issuing a National Report Card on Housing Discrimination. This workshop was held on September 22-23, 2000.

A full panel study has been proposed to follow on the discussions at the workshop. The full panel study will address HUD’s concerns about the adequacy of the sample design, the measurement of various aspects of discrimination, and issues that might bias the results.
