About CORE
There have been recent federal trends for evidence-based education policy and the improvement of education research. This was prevalent in the 2002 No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB), which promoted “scientifically based education research.” In response the National Research Council’s Center for Education developed the report Scientific Research in Education to articulate the nature of scientific education research and set the foundation for future efforts in this area.
Now the Center for Education has recruited an expert committee to build on this work. This ad hoc committee called the Committee on Research in Education (CORE) will guide and oversee the design and implementation of a workshop series that will take specific aspects of Scientific Education Research and expand upon them. CORE will build on past-and reinforce current-efforts in CFE, DBASSE, and other NRC units that relate to the improvement of education Research.
