Daryl E. Chubin

Daryl Chubin is Senior Vice President, Policy and Research, at the National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering (NACME), Inc., in New York City. He has served as a Senior Policy Officer for the National Science Board at the National Science Foundation (NSF). Dr. Chubin joined NSF as Division Director for Research, Evaluation and Communication in the Directorate for Education and Human Resources in 1993; served a one-year detail in 1997 as Assistant Director for Social and Behavioral Sciences (and Education) at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy; and began his federal career in 1986 at the Office of Technology Assessment, U.S. Congress, where he directed projects resulting in the reports, Educating Scientists and Engineers - Grade School to Grad School (1988) and Federally Funded Research: Decisions for a Decade (1991). In his first career, Dr. Chubin served on the faculty of four universities, including Georgia Tech, where he was promoted to full professor. For the last decade, he has been Adjunct Professor at the Cornell-in-Washington Program and the Northern Virginia Center of Virginia Tech. He has published eight books and numerous policy reports, articles, and commentaries on issues in science policy, human resource development, program evaluation, and science and the media. He earned the PhD in sociology from Loyola University (Chicago) in 1973.
