Workshop on Understanding and Promoting
Knowledge Accumulation in Education:
Tools and Strategies for Education Research
June 30 – July 1 2003

This workshop initiated a discussion among education researchers, officials from relevant federal agencies, and others about how to develop a common core of tools in education research. This workshop tried to answer what are the elements of a research infrastructure- the tools, practices, models, and standards that can form a common core in education research. Researchers from multiple perspectives discussed the parameters that should be covered by this common set of tools, and how these will advance the pace of knowledge accumulation.
