Lynn Liben
Lynn S. Liben is currently Distinguished Professor of Psychology at Penn State, where she previously served as Department Head and Director of the Child Study Center. She is the current Editor of Child Development, the immediate past editor of the Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, and a member of several editorial boards including those of the American Journal of Education and the Journal of Applied Developmental Psychology. She is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the American Psychological Society, and has served as President of the Developmental Psychology Division of APA and of the Jean Piaget Society. She holds a B.A. from Cornell and a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan. Her work has focused on children’s developing spatial cognition and representational understanding, and the application of this work to formal and informal education in the earth sciences and in the visual arts. She has also conducted research on sex-related differences in spatial skills and geographic knowledge, and has directed research grants and published widely on these topics.
