WILLIAM H. JOYCE (ex-officio) is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Hercules Incorporated. Dr. Joyce joined Hercules after a distinguished career with Union Carbide, where he served in a number of executive positions, including President, Chief Executive Officer, and Chairman of the Board. He received the National Medal of Technology in 1993 and is the recipient of the Plastic Academy’s Industry Achievement Award (1994) and Lifetime Achievement Award (1997). In 1997, Dr. Joyce was elected to the National Academy of Engineering for his leadership in making polyethylene and polypropylene, a technology that revolutionized the plastics industry. He holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University, and a M.B.A. and Ph.D. from New York University.
