Completed CSBD Projects
Committee on Learning Research and Educational Practice
Connection to project scope, roster, and meetings (CPS system)
Publications: How People Learn: Bridging Research And Practice (1999), How People Learn: Brain, Mind, Experience, and School: Expanded Edition (2000)
The goal of this project was to bring together practitioners, policy makers, and researchers to react to the report, How People Learn, and discuss the problem of getting research findings used in everyday school practice. The committee held a conference in December 1998 to present How People Learn to an audience of educators, policy makers, and researchers and to elicit their feedback on the promise of, and obstacles to, bridging educational research and practice. The committee also held a workshop to focus more sharply on the research that would help construct the bridge between research and practice. The report summarized the major themes of the two meetings and recommended critical areas for the sponsor to consider as it develops its research and development agenda.
