Opportunities in Basic Research in the Behavioral and Social Sciences for the U.S. Military
Connection to project scope, roster, and meetings (CPS)
The Department of the Army, U.S. Army Research Institute for the Behavioral and Social Sciences asked the National Research Council to establish a committee that would address the range of interactions among social settings and behavioral patterns, seeking areas of scientific opportunity where significant investment is most likely to improve the military's effectiveness and efficiency in the new roles it is assuming. The committee will commission background papers in order to convene a workshop to assist its deliberations. A central intellectual task will be to distill the committee's initial discussions in order to specify appropriate paper topics and to identify the best possible authors. The papers will examine significant research literature in the behavioral and social sciences that may enrich and enliven the U.S. military research portfolio.
