Roundtable Discussion, Part III - Moderator: Norman Bradburn, University of Chicago
DR. BRADBURN: I'm Norman Bradburn. I'm going to moderate this third roundtable discussion. In the agenda it is sort of described as perspectives of research managers, which I think is a bit of a misnomer, because they more you might say managers of research dissemination, or systems that -- in fact, these are the people who for the most part, run the systems that have been referred to at various times all day, or at least they are involved in them, if they don't actually run them.
On my right is Susan Harris from the American Psychological Association. I think you are titled the Senior Science Director of the APA journals. Are you responsible for Psych Info?
MS. HARRIS: My colleague is.
DR. BRADBURN: And Doug Joubert from the National Institutes of Health Library. He is an informationist, which I think is a new kind of term, as informatics is. It's a whole new kind of specialty of people who deal with the kinds of problems that we have been concerned with here, at least the inputs of them.
And finally Luna Levinson from the Institute of Education Sciences, who is responsible for ERIC and the cotar(?) for overseeing the redesign of ERIC. So, they are all involved very much in the issue, in a different sense of the users of the kinds of things that we have been talking about.
What I've done is to ask each of them to take a few minutes to start off by describing by kind of their perspective, respond to the sort of framing questions that we have, and then we'll have a discussion among us, and then we'll open it up for questions and answers.
So, we'll start off with Susan and just go down the line.
