Conflict and Reconstruction in Multiethnic Societies
Statement of Task: The NRC Committee on Conflict and Reconstruction in Multiethnic Societies addresses (1) characteristics of peaceful management of tensions in multiethnic societies, and particularly in Russia; (2) policies that have contributed to violence in such societies; (3) steps toward reconciliation; and (4) post-conflict reconstruction. The committee is focused on the continued development of the interacademy network of specialists from the United States, Russia, and other selected countries who are in a position to develop approaches of likely interest to political leaders for addressing ethnic relations in particularly sensitive areas of the world.
