SPEAKERS' BIOGRAPHIES

Susan Adams has been the Executive Officer for Facilities Management for the Architect of the Capitol since January 2001. Her responsibilities include development and implementation of fire protection, occupational safety and health, environmental, quality assurance, and facilities management programs for the Capitol Hill Complex and multiple off-site locations. Prior to joining AOC, Ms. Adams had 17 years experience with the Navy, including Energetics Manufacturing, Safety and Environmental Management.

Walker Lee Evey is Program Manager, Pentagon Renovation Program Office, the Pentagon, Washington, D.C. In this position he reports directly to the Deputy Secretary of Defense. He is responsible for development and control of budgets, work schedules, acquisition strategy and plans and programs for use of swing space and for coordination and control of all office movements within the Pentagon involved with Pentagon Renovation activities. Mr. Evey serves as the principal adviser to the Secretary of Defense and the Deputy Secretary of Defense for all matters relating to the Pentagon Renovation Program.

Lee Evey enlisted in the U.S. Army and in 1967 was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the infantry. During 1968 and 1969, he served as an Infantry Platoon Leader and Company Commander with the 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry, First Infantry Division, Quan Loi, South Vietnam, where he participated in numerous combat operations. Mr. Evey entered federal service in January 1974 as a member of the Air Force Copper Cap Training Program at Patrick Air Force Base, FL. He is a member of the Senior Executive Association, the Air Force Association and the National Contract Management Association.

The Honorable Alan M. Hantman, FAIA, was appointed the tenth Architect of the Capitol by the President on January 6, 1997 and was confirmed by the Senate on January 30, 1997. He is charged with the upkeep of the United States Capitol, the Congressional Office Buildings, the Library of Congress Buildings, the United States Supreme Court Building, the Thurgood Marshall Federal Judiciary Building, the Capitol Power Plant, the Capitol Police headquarters, and the Robert A. Taft Memorial. Before his appointment, Mr. Hantman had been with the Rockefeller Center Management Corporation since 1986, serving as Vice President for Architecture, Planning, and Construction.

Henry J. Hatch is the chair of the Federal Facilities Council and a member of the Board on Infrastructure and the Constructed Environment of the National Research Council. He retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers with the rank of lieutenant general and served as chief of engineers and commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 1992. General Hatch was the chief operating officer of the American Society of Civil Engineers from 1997 to 1999 and, prior to joining ASCE, was president and chief executive officer of Fluor Daniel, Hanford, Inc., where he directed a $5 billion, five-year management contract for the U.S. Department of Energy’s environmental cleanup at Hanford. General Hatch is a registered professional engineer in the District of Columbia and a member and past national president of the Society of American Military Engineers. He graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and has an M.S. in geodetic science from Ohio State University.

Stephen F. Hood is a Branch Chief with the National Security Division of the Federal Emergency Management Agency. In 1998, Mr. Hood accepted a position to manage a staff involved in interagency and FEMA continuity of operations (COOP) planning, critical infrastructure protection planning, and interagency terrorism preparedness planning and coordination. Within the past two years, he has become involved in continuity of government (COG) planning and, in this capacity, he has briefed Cabinet members and senior White House and Federal department and agency officials. He has chaired the interagency COOP Working Group for the past three years and has overseen the development of current interagency COOP guidance and the performance of a major assessment of COG and COOP capabilities of the Federal Government.

Glin W. Jay, CFM, CPM, is the Managing Principal of The In Formation Company. The In Formation Company provides training solutions, facilitation, instruction, development and consulting. Glin W. Jay is an international speaker, trainer, and consultant. He has authored and co-authored more than 22 workshop training programs and delivered hundreds of keynote presentations. He is presently completing his latest books, "30-Seconds with the CEO"® Power Words for Pitching Empowered Solutions and Changing Minds, Lives & Bottom Lines®.

Brian O' Rourke is Chief Information Security Officer for the Architect of the Capitol. He is responsible for the development of security policies, operational and contingency plans and system designs to safeguard AOC's

information infrastructure. Mr. O'Rourke is also the chairman of an interagency legislative branch committee that is responsible for the design, development and co-ordination of information system initiatives on the Capitol campus. He possesses 15 years of IT managerial and professional experience in the private sector with such firms as SAIC, Synetics, and Internetix.

Eric Teicholz is the President and founder of Graphic Systems Inc. (GSI), and has a 25-year history of consulting, education and writing in facilities management and technology. He lectures internationally, is a Contributing Editor at Facilities Design & Management and Commercial Buildings magazines and is the author of hundreds of articles, and several books, on computer graphics, facility management, computer-aided design and architecture, computer-aided facilities management and GIS technology. Prior to founding GSI, Mr. Teicholz was a professor at Harvard’s Graduate School of Design and was an Associate Director of Harvard’s Lab for Computer Graphics and Spatial Analysis. He sits on the Board on Infrastructure and the Constructed Environment at the National Research Council and the Advisory Board for Facilities Management for A/E/C SYSTEMS 2000. Mr. Teicholz holds a master of architecture from Harvard University and a bachelor of architecture from Union College.

Rebecca Tiscione is the Director of Human Resources for the Architect of the Capitol. Ms. Tiscione is responsible for the full spectrum of Human Capital issues for the Architect's office, including include employment and classification, employee relations, payroll, benefits, and employee development. She has over 20 years experience in Human Resources with the federal sector, including service with the Department of Navy and the Defense Intelligence Agency.
