Our nation’s leaders grapple with a multitude of questions every day that are -- at their core -- issues of science, technology, and medicine.

The National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering, the Institute of Medicine, and the National Research Council have a proven track record of providing expert, independent advice on such diverse issues as fighting global warming, reducing medical errors, and preparing the next generation of leaders in science and technology. They are private organizations that do not receive a direct appropriation from the government. Together, they enlist the aid of the nation’s most knowledgeable scientists, engineers, health professionals, and other experts who volunteer their time for the study of specific issues.

The results of their deliberations have led to some of the most significant and lasting efforts to improve the health, education, and welfare of all Americans.

SUPPORTING THE NATIONAL ACADEMIES

Your support of the National Academies can be made in one of several ways: by using our Secure Online Gift Form, by arranging for a Transfer of Stock, by phone, fax or email or by planned giving ~ all described in further detail here. For more information, please contact the Office of Development at (202) 334-2431 or email one of our Staff Members.

An Annual Gift provides unrestricted support to initiate activities for which there are pressing needs. When giving a gift to the Academies, please consider this option. This important fund also helps to make Academies reports available to people who can put that information to direct use in communities, businesses, hospitals and classrooms.

We are grateful for the continued support and look forward to progressing through the future.
