ANNUAL FUND OF THE
NATIONAL ACADEMY OF SCIENCES
The National Academy of Sciences has a dual role:
- fostering the continued productivity of the scientific enterprise, and
- promoting wise national policymaking that is based on the best science.
The NAS realizes this role, in part, through activities that depend heavily on private funding; much of that funding will come from foundations and other philanthropic organizations -- but only as the Academy demonstrates that these activities have the support of its own members.
Thus, an increasing number of NAS members and friends -- understanding that their contributions carry a value well beyond their dollar size -- are making Annual Fund and Campaign pledges.
The following material highlights several NAS programs requiring private support. As you read about these programs, please recognize that a gift to the Academy will serve double duty -- directly supporting NAS programs and signaling your support to other funders.
To make an Annual Fund gift or Campaign pledge, use our secure on-line form or check out the Making Your Gift section of our website. Your gift may entitle you to membership in one of our giving societies, through which the Academies publicly recognize the important contributions made by our donors.
For more information about any of the programs mentioned in these pages -- or about the Annual Fund in general -- please contact us at giving@nationalacademies.org or 202.334.2431.
