A large portion of the $300 million raised by The Campaign for the National Academies will be contributed by outside organizations -- such as foundations and corporations -- demonstrating tangible support for our mission, programs, and projects. But the Campaign’s ultimate success will require the cumulative support of NAS, NAE, and IOM members.
|
The size and form of each member’s support will vary with the individual’s financial capacity and personal interests. Thus one member may make a small multi-year cash pledge directed to the endowment; another would make a generous estate bequest to underwrite a Fellowship; a third would make an outright gift of stock, supporting publication of the lay-version of an important study report.
These profiles highlight three members who made Campaign leadership gifts to support programs at the Academies -- NAE’s Norman Augustine, IOM’s Colleen Conway-Welch, and NAS’s Elkan Blout. Though their gifts serve different purposes and range in size from $25,000 to $1 million, they have a fundamental goal in common: enhancing the capacity of the National Academies to guide the science, engineering, and medicine enterprises -- and thereby improve the quality of life nationally and globally.
As you read these profiles, please consider the ways in which you too can become a leader in this important Campaign.
