BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP

U-I Partners have access to all aspects of the GUIRR program:

  • GUIRR Council Meetings- The U-I Partners are invited to attend all meetings of the Roundtable Council. Typically, the Council convenes three times to provide a forum for constructive interchange on critical science and technology issues.
  • Working groups- flexible, action-oriented teams that catalyze high level government-university-industry cooperation on issues of national importance. Examples of issues addressed by working groups.
  • Access to The National Academies network of international scientists, experts, government officials including Congress and the Administration, and industry leaders- key policymakers responsible for the health of the nation’s science and technology enterprise.
  • Closed-door meetings- Allows frank, in-depth, and open exchange of perspectives (exempt from Federal Advisory Committee Act)
  • Development of products- Op Ed pieces, Federal Demonstration Partnership, strategies, activities, and physical products. Examples of U-I collaborative products.

BECOMING A U-I MEMBER

  • Partnerships should include universities with strong histories of industry research and institutions with substantial involvement in the research enterprise and with specific interests in improving the effectiveness of government-university-industry research collaboration.
  • Annual dues of $30,000 for one university-industry partnership provides partial funding for Roundtable activities, including expenses to attend the three yearly Roundtable meetings. U-I partners may split the payment in the manner of their choice.
  • Each institution should select a representative (and an alternate if they wish) to participate in Roundtable activities.
  • For more information on how to become a member, contact Yvette White.
