Excerpt from a letter of gratitude to the CHR from Saad Eddin Ibrahim
Tora Prison Farm: August 20, 2001
You have been so much a part of our lives for more than a year. Yet this is the first time I write you directly—not through the good offices of my dear wife Barbara.
An overdue thanks from my heart is the first order of my communication. My colleagues and I have been overwhelmed by mail from members of your Academy. Their letters do wonders to our spirits in the dreary wasteland of the Tora Prison. My colleagues and I have tried to answer as many as we are allowed by prison rules - i.e. one outgoing letter a week only. I hope you can convey our deep sense of gratitude to all who wrote to us and have not gotten our answers yet.
I am sure that you and your colleagues are doing your best for us.
Cordially,
Saad Eddin Ibrahim
