Welcome!

The National Academies is pleased to be working with the National Science Foundation (NSF) and NSF grantees of the Mathematics and Science Partnership (MSP) program. NSF has provided funding to the National Research Council’s Center for Education (CFE) and the National Science Resources Center (NSRC, an organization that is operated jointly by the National Academies and the Smithsonian Institution) to assist MSP grantees and potential applicants. CFE and NSRC will host a series of annual workshops for partnership teams. These workshops will support and encourage grantees and applicants to implement evidence-based research in their partnerships’ efforts to boost mathematics and science student achievement. The workshops will be based upon a series of reports that the National Research Council (NRC) has produced on a variety of pressing issues in education.

October 28-30 Workshop:
Making the Transition: What do we want to sustain from MSPs and how do we do that?
This final workshop in the National Academies workshop series will focus on the future of the MSPs. The long range impact of many MSPs may well depend on their ability to evaluate what works and re-program their partnerships to sustain a more focused approach. The goals of this workshop are threefold: 1) to encourage MSPs to figure out what is working (and how do they know); 2) to explore what “sustain” really means; and 3) to map out the first steps in making the transition to a sustainable future.
