A new report from the Institute of Medicine, Asbestos: Selected Cancers, evaluates the evidence on the role of asbestos (a known cause of lung cancer and mesothelioma) in a number of other cancers of the respiratory and gastrointestinal tracts.
These series of briefings were for members of Congress and congressional staff only. The report was publicly released on June 6, 2006 and can be found, in its entirety, on the Web site of the National Academies Press.
