This new report assesses the basic research activities of various branches of the military. The study was requested by Congress in P.L. 108-136, because of concerns that investments in the Department of Defense's basic research have remained stagnant.
This briefing was members of Congress and congressional staff only. The report was publicly released on December 14, 2004 and can be found, in its entirety, on the Web site of the National Academies Press.
