Coverage Matters: Insurance and Health Care

Coverage Matters is the first of six reports on problems of uninsurance in the United States from the Institute of Medicine. This first report addresses the extent to which Americans are without health coverage, identifies social, economic, and policy factors that contribute to that situation, and describes the likelihood faced by members of various population groups of being uninsured.

This briefing was for Members of Congress and congressoinal staff only. The report was publicly released on October 11, 2001, and the full text is available on-line through the Web site of the National Academies Press.
