Electricity from Renewable Resources:
Status, Prospects, and Impediments
Electricity from Renewable Resources is the second in a series of reports to be released from the National Academies' America's Energy Future project. This second study examines the potential of wind, solar, geothermal, solar-thermal, hydroelectric, and other renewable energy sources. The report looks at likely deployment timelines, implementation costs, development barriers, and environmental impacts.
This briefing was for members of Congress and congressional staff only. The report was publicly released on June 15, 2009 and can be found, in its entirety, on the Web site of the National Academies Press.
