Envisioning the National Health Care Quality Report
A new report from the Institute of Medicine proposes a framework -- including specific questions to ask and measures to use -- for the National Health Care Quality Report, to be issued annually by the Agency for Health Care Research and Quality starting in 2003. The report is intended to serve as a barometer to measure and track the quality of the health care delivery system and highlight areas in need of improvement.
This briefing was for members of Congress and congressional staff only. The report was publicly released on March 30, 2001 and can be found on-line, in its entirety, through the Web site of the National Academies Press.
