Exploration of the Seas: Interim Report
As requested by Congress in PL 106-554, this interim study by the National Research Council assesses the feasibility and value of implementing a major, coordinated, international program of ocean exploration and discovery. A final report, with a more detailed discussion of the justification for an ocean exploration program and recommendations for implementing such a program at the national and international levels, will be released in the fall of 2003.
This briefing was for members of Congress and congressional staff only. The report was publicly released on January 30, 2003 and can be found, in its entirety, on the Web site of the National Academies Press.
