Variation in Health Care Spending:
Target Decision Making, Not Geography
This second report of two, from the Institute of Medicine, examines regional variation in health spending and whether Medicare payment for physicians and hospitals should incorporate a value index that would modify reimbursements based on geographic area. (The interim report can be found here.)
This briefing was for members of Congress and congressional staff only. The final report was publicly released on July 24, 2013 and can be found, in its entirety, on the Web site of the National Academies Press.
